Distillato di Cereali 'Alba' Puni

The Distillato di Cereali “Alba” Puni is the first very special bottling from the cubic distillery of Ebensperger family. As indicated on its website, the name “Alba” is not to be considered only in Italian, but also in Gaelic, being the ancient name of Scotland. From the name itself, it is easy understanding the desire of taking part of the great tradition of whisky, being inspired by the techniques of the greatest Scottish masters: their traditional pot stills, which perform a double distillation from superheated water at 100°, and not by steam, in order to have an extreme precision, hails from this part of the world, in particular, from Rhotes, and have been specifically created for Puni distillery. The raw materials come from Val Venosta itself and are a mixture of three malted cereals: starting from a base of barley, rye and wheat embellish the aromatic bouquet. The barrels, designed to accommodate the spirit, have been selected among the best of Marsala Vergine and Pinot Noir, giving it an intense incarnate and a structured taste, remaining very soft. The “Alba” Puni is the new edition of the “Red” Puni, which had won the gold medal at the Internationalen Spirituosen Wettbewerb in Cologne in 2013: “Alba” pleasantly surprises thanks to a higher alcohol content and spicy notes added to the sweet ones. Having a maturity of only twenty four months, in relation to the three years required by the regulations of the Whisky, the spirit cannot be officially called “whisky”, but it certainly indicates the emergence of a promising Italian tradition...a beautiful unmissable sunrise.
